Ella Fitzgerald was the first black woman to get a record . Ella Fitzgerald was born in Newport  News , Virginia , On April 25 , 1917 . Ella Fitzgerald loved to sing Ella grew up with no father and her mother died when she was younger . Ella was taking care of by a orphan In Asylum in Riverdale , Ny . It was for colored only . 



In this photo Ella Fitzgerald first performance at the Apollo Theater in Harlem , New York 1934. This same night Ella won losts of money because of her singing she won $25.00 . She sang Boswell's "Judy . The people loved Ella's Singing .
Ella Made About 200 Albums .






Ray Brown, Jr. Ella Fitzgerald only son he was born in New York City . Ray learned early to appreciate the beauty and artistry of music. Ray studied piano at the age of 10. At the age of  14 he started playing drums became an extended musical passion . Ray Brown also had a child .

This photo is a night when Ella Fitzgerald got arrested but she was only eating cake and a piece a pie she didnt even do anything but they locked her up . they were just picking on her and her friend  .



Ella wasn’t allowed to play at the Mocambo a famous nightclub because she was black.Marilyn called the owner and said that she’d show up for every show and sit in the front row if they allowed Ella to sing.And Marilyn was there for every show in the front row. Ella loved Marilyn because she was always there for her no matter what she would always make sure Ella gets her way .

In 1918, in Newport News, Virginia. She began performing and made her first recording"Love and Kisses" .in 1935,and had a million-seller in 1938 with ‘A-Tisket, A-Tasket. She is a musical legend.

President Reagan thanks Ella Fitzgerald for her performance following the state dinner for the king and queen of Spain at the White House on October 13, 1981. They all loved her singing and they thanked her for that .
